Journal #10

Like nothing else.

For this journal entry I chose to analyze one of the ads created by Hummer. I really enjoy the series and find it to take a twist on most car advertising. If you get the chance you should take a look at the full series of the “like nothing else” campaign.
This advertisement uses several aspects to convey the meaning of “like nothing else.” It keeps it simple to the eye by only using one object for the point of interest. The color harmony used in the ad is monochromatic. The advertisement only uses a variety of shades in the green color scheme. I believe this is because most lizards usually blend in with their surroundings from their predators and using all green shades shows this concept. The background of the ad has a blurred technique to bring the focus directly to the lizard/alligator. The colors in the ad also portray a very wildlife feel or tone.

I think this ad is well done. The use of photoshop to create a new creature brings attention to itself. When someone sees something new, they have to look at it for a longer period of time. The tail of the lizard also serves as a leading line for your eye to read the hummer logo. I feel as though the logo and tagline in the bottom right corner should however be enlarged just slightly. It is kind of difficult to read and identify the brand identity.
